A Cigar Advocate is the global industry leader in building lavish, fully customizable Cigar Cabinet Humidors and Ashtrays. My job was to create a sleek and impressionable layout for a 32 page wholesaler booklet that would immediately catch someone's eye and really focus on the beautiful craftsmanship that goes with every product.
visit live site →I began by researching other luxury good companies brochures, mainly jewlery and real estate and of course looked a cigar material as well. Many of the assets were already provided for me so I tried to let the images be the focal point on the pages rather than my design. I kept the general style guide that the brand and website has while adding in some bolder fonts and edges to give the booklet a more sleek look overall.
The photography that I was provided with was of excellent quality and really helped elevate the entire product. Working with large photography files like this I did have to do slight edits to make sure that they would look as clear and rich on print as they would on web view.
Working with a company like A Cigar Advocate was an amazing opportunity for me. I learned a lot when it comes to industries like these that are very specialized thus the material should be very curated. I learned how difficult it is to just let the materials shine while also not being too simplistic in my design.
Print turns out very differently than digital especially with darker colours. I spent a long time perfecting these tones to make sure that they would still look as rich on paper as they did online. Luckily I had a lot of experience with print in the past and could apply these lessons I’ve learned to this project.
